Matthew Hansen.
I write about engineering leadership, code review culture, and using AI without outsourcing your thinking. My philosophy is to make the right way the easy way by designing systems where developers consistently win, not by effort, but by environment
When I was a kid I wanted to be a doctor just to put "MD Hansen MD" on my office door. But after programming text based adventure games on my C64, my passion for coding was too strong for the health path. But then, after years of coding, from 2007 onwards I shifted my focus to health tech anyway!
Over the last 13 years, I've led Platform Engineering and Developer Experience at Halaxy, a global healthcare platform used by patients and practitioners in 150+ countries. I applied with the email yourehired@mattyhansen.com - and I'm still here.
This is the Way
Debug systems, not people.
Systems fail before people do.
The right way should be the easy way.
Make desired behavior the path of least resistance.
Tools should reduce cognitive load, not replace judgment.
AI is useful - until you stop understanding what it gives you.
BlunderGOAT is my chess handle because I'm great at making blunders. Chess is on hold these days. Now I think in systems, not squares.
